2015: A Look Back (Happy New Year!)

2015ReflectionWow. Just wow.

Writing-wise, 2015 was a pretty stellar year. I sold the sequel in the Royals of Solana trilogy, went to my first RT Convention and met some incredible authors/friends, attended six book signings, finished half of the 3rd novel in Royals of Solana trilogy, wrote a new short story in its entirety (with ideas for 2 more in the series), and plotted a brand new Young Adult novel. For extra kicks, I finished the first 3 chapters of it, and invested in my public relations and marketing brand with a kick-a** PR company (Y&R PR).

2016 is lined up to be just as big, if not bigger! I’m so excited, and I can’t wait to NewYear Clockstart on those lofty goals!

In the personal side of my life, intense highs balanced some vicious lows.

First and foremost, my husband and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary! I’m so blessed to have this man as my companion in life. He took me to the Bahamas, where we spent four incredible days scuba diving! Several wreck dives, huge schools of fish, even a shark sighting! Water is a major place of peace for me, and allowed me to recharge with the one I love. Boy did we both need it! (And a huge thank you to my parents, who watched our two angels, despite everyone getting sick while we were gone!)

We also moved into a new house, an seven-year-long savings effort that we finally achieved!

Our seven-year-old started first grade in a new school, and those changes don’t mesh well for someone with Autism Spectrum disorder. Adjusting and acclimating to new surroundings, teachers, and friends was a tremendous challenge for him, and many days were extremely rough. Combine with major hassles with health insurance, including a still ongoing legal fight, my stress was at an all time high in 2015.

Despite all these, there are still so many things for which I am thankful. Our youngest had his cranial helmet removed and learned to walk (actually, went straight to running!) He started part-time daycare and made new friends. A billion more things with my hubby, family, and friends, and all their tremendous support that I cannot thank enough!

2016 is going to have some significant challenges as well. Goes with the territory, but I’m well prepared.

come.”

No more soda 🙂 (already 2 days into that one!)

I wish everyone a peaceful and happy New Year. Here’s to a phenomenal 2016!NewYearChampagne

Happy Birthday, to my Hubby

Today, my hubby has reached a major milestone: the top of a hill most archeologists would date back to 25 years ago. But to me, it’s not a hill: it’s a pedestal.BryanSusieFormal

Happy birthday, B. The “butter to my bread, the breath to my life.” My partner in crime. Thank you for you: for saving me from vicious spiders, for eating my terrible cooking with a smile, for lending me your patience when I’ve none left, for being the most awesome father to our two boys, and keeping laughter alive in our house.Pinata

Nine years ago, I made the easiest decision (and most important) of my life.Wedding003

I said “I do” to Bryan.

Well, actually I made the decision to marry him long before then, but it was official on Sept 17th.

WeddingKissThis is yet another time for me to brag, folks. Fair warning.

It really was an easy decision. I knew Bryan was the only one for me. The best choice I could ever make. The best father I could ever ask for for our children.

Nine years later, it’s incredible everything we’ve gone through, and the love between us is infinitely stronger than on our wedding day. Didn’t think that was possible on that hot day in September all those years ago, but it’s true.

I can honestly say we’ve never had a major fight. Not one. Disagreements, sure. Tested each other’s patience, of course. But never a fight.

Respect is the foundation of our relationship, which is why I think we’ve never really fought. I value his opinion. He values mine. He tells me he’s proud of me, and I remind him every day how much I love him. He supports me even when I’m crazy, and tells me I’m beautiful even when I’m sick. He’s the one I go to when I don’t know what to do.

My Happy Place… with Bryan

He’s my happy place.

Here’s to my love. My inspiration. My boo:

Where does the time go? You’ve made my life so rich with love, so warm, and more than I could have ever hoped for.

I love you, Bryan. Happy Anniversary.

Happy Birthday – Time to Brag

Spending my birthday heavily medicated from a stupid kidney stone is not the pillcupcakesbest way to celebrate. But at the same time, I can’t complain. No whining allowed.

Because I have the most incredible family.

Yes, folks, this is a bragging post. Fair warning.

My mother, who made us dinner because she knew I couldn’t cook. My father, who picked my son up from school 2 days in a row and took him to his appointments. My brother, who came over to watch my younger son since I was totally loopy. Even my 5-year-old, who didn’t understand what was going on, but still covered me with a blanket and shared his toys with me so it would make me feel better. (Made me want to cry, it was so cute!)

And especially my hubby. For any single ladies out there who are still looking for the right man, make sure you marry one just like mine (sorry, you can’t have this one!). The kind of man who stands beside you when the shit hits the fan, and is helping you scrape all of it off the ceiling and walls. More importantly, will take the scraper from you when you’re flat on your back in a hospital bed, and keep scraping for you. Who sits beside you when you feel you’re at your worst, holds your hand and tells you he loves you.

I would be ecstatic not to see a hospital room again this year. They should put a plaque with my name on one of those rooms by now. But I know if I am, he’ll be right there with me. Telling me I’m still beautiful. And smiling through whatever nonsense I say while on morphine. (Apparently I asked him 3 times  if he went to the dry cleaners).

I have the best family in the world. And that’s an awesome birthday. And every other day in between!

BIG NEWS! A Great Start to 2014

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a blog, that I thought I should reopen it with BIG NEWS!

Ladies and gents, this has been an incredible two weeks, and I just can’t contain myself!

BabyBlueFirst and foremost, my son Liam was born on Tuesday, March 4th at 8:25am. Almost 2 full weeks early, completely healthy and with the biggest appetite I’ve ever seen. My oldest son, Caden, is infatuated with being a big brother. Maybe because they look IDENTICAL! Pictures will come soon.

The other piece of incredible news (besides giving up sleep for Lent), is I sold my next manuscript to The Wild Rose Press!

Prince of Solana is the first book in my romantic suspense trilogy, Royals of Solana. No release date yet, but I’m hoping for early fall 2014. It all depends on how fast I can get these edits done with a newborn in the house!

I’m so overloaded with love and joy, and it’s not from pain meds. Here’s to the beginning of an incredible 2014!!!!

Once again, no matter what religion you practice or if none at all, I wish you a wonderful holiday season and great New Year’s. I appreciate the message of peace in any religion, whether it be Christmas, Hannakuh, Kwanza, Buddi, or atheism. Stay true to your religion: there’s nothing wrong with sharing it.

Since I’m Christian, I wish you a Merry Christmas.

I Will Be Published… Happy Dance Time!

Five years of learning my voice and writing style.

Four manuscripts- either waiting in the wings or on my laptop.

Eight months of writing  and revising this particular manuscript.

A year of querying and rejection.

Fourteen full or partial manuscript requests from either agents or editors.

What do all of these equal?

I will be a published author!!

Yes, folks. I received ‘the call.’ Or in my case, ‘the email.’

I sold AUDREY’S PROMISE to The Wild Rose Press.

No release date yet, but as soon as I have it I’ll announce that.

And for anyone who knows me, they know what comes next:

Happy Dance time!
