As I was sitting in the lobby of the RT16 Convention waiting on my ride, I received an email from InD’Tale (one of the premier romance review companies) that the 1st in the Royals of Solana romantic suspense novel, Prince of Solana, was nominated for the coveted RONE Award!

Each year InD’tale Magazine honors the very best books in the Indie and Small publishing industry by awarding the prestigious RONE award.  To achieve this award, a RONEAwardbook  must go through the most comprehensive process in the industry today, with three distinct areas of focus.

  1. All books in each given year (January 1st – December 31st) must have been read and reviewed by our professional staff of reviewers and be given a four star rating or higher to qualify as a nominee.
  2. All nominees, with the exception of 5 star rated books which will automatically become finalists, must then be voted on by the reading public.  The books with the highest number of public votes will progress on to become finalists.
  3. The finalists will then be read by a group of industry professionals consisting of editors, writers, professors etc. and be judged on a one to five scale from a specific list of requirements such as characterization, overall arc, editing etc.   Those scores will then be tallied by a professional company unrelated to InD’tale or its employees to determine the winner of the coveted RONE award, along with the honorable mentions.

All awards are announced at the annual RONE award gala event and ceremony and given the beautiful Crystal RONE award. This is a formal but extremely fun and entertaining night for all, one that truly honors all Indie and Small published authors, readers and professionals!”

I’m so beyond excited! Prince of Solana had received a 5-star review from InDTaleInD’Tale this year. The next step is voting from the public! The romantic suspense category is open to voters starting April 25th, thru May 1st. Mark your calendars. Please, please, please vote for Prince of Solana!

I’m truly humbled to even have this beauty nominated!

Thanksgiving Sale- Celebrate with AUDREY’S PROMISE

It’s November. The time for colder weather, colorful turning leaves, college fall-autumn-colors-leaves-mexicanwavefootball, pumpkin spice lattes, and being thankful.

Thanksgiving is so rarely depicted in fiction novels. Most authors choose to represent Christmas or Valentine’s Day (especially in the romance genre). This overlooked holiday needed a chance to be brought front and center.

Audrey Allen is poised to become the youngest Texas senator, a position that fits her nickname, The Peacemaker. But she’s unable to make peace with many in her hometown, where memories and grudges run deep from a decade-old tragedy.
Ethan Tanner, an ambitious and tantalizing journalist, joins her at Thanksgiving for an in-depth look at the promising candidate. But he has an agenda of his own that’s not entirely honorable.
Ethan could stir up trouble for her budding career, or awaken the deep passions she’s buried for so long. Will Ethan find that he values love more than getting the story?

Open Call for Reviewers- FREE E-Book!

I received wonderful news from my publisher last week, announcing they are giving their authors more free e-copies of their novels to share with reviewers and bloggers!

Guess what that means?FreeEBook

OPEN CALL FOR REVIEWERS!

I’m asking for anyone who is willing to read AUDREY’S PROMISE, and write a review (at least 150 words) to post onto Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Good Reads, and any review sites they belong to (blogs included). I will email a .pdf file copy of the novel to you (completely FREE!), and you can download it to any device you prefer (Kindle, Nook,  Kobo, etc).

WriteAReviewMy request is that the review be posted within 6 weeks of receiving the novel. If you don’t like the book, that’s ok. I will not be offended. But please keep your reviews PG rated (no swearing or personal attacks). Keep it strictly on the book and characters. 🙂

Here’s the book blurb:

AUDREY’S PROMISE

Contemporary Romance set in rural East Texas

Audrey Allen is poised to become the youngest Texas Senator, a position she’s primed for with her nickname, “The Peacemaker.” But she’s unable to make peace with many in her hometown, where memories and grudges run deep from a decade-old tragedy. Ethan Tanner, ambitious and tantalizing journalist, joins her home for Thanksgiving for an in-depth look at the promising candidate. But he has an agenda of his own that’s not entirely honorable. Will he stir up more trouble for her budding career, or awaken the deep passions she’s buried for so long? Can Audrey hold on to the promise she’d made?

Battle of the Book Formats

Oh, how the battle thickens… it’s no longer a question between paperback or bookbattlehardback. It’s even evolved past physical book or e-book. Oh no, my friends. It’s become so much more complicated.

You can’t just choose ‘e-book’ anymore. Now you must choose which format of technology to read these precious stories.

Kindle

Nook

Mobile (iPhone or Android)

Laptop

Tablet

Kobo

The choices expand every month. Forty years ago, you still had options of which material you wanted your book printed on, but imagine…  what if not just paper, but perhaps cotton, leather, wood, chocolate (oh yes!), or stone (try balancing that on your head).

battling_booksAnd the battle continues, with additional, equal amounts of confusion and choices.

Which do you prefer: physical books or e-books?

If you prefer physical, the main choices are hardback or paperback.

If you prefer e-book, which format do you use most?

Personally, I’m still 70% physical books. I love the feel of the paper in my hands, turning the pages between my fingers, and more importantly the smell. There’s not many things in the world better than that new book smell.

The remaining 30% I go back and forth between iPad and my iPhone. Yes, I started reading books on my phone. A concept so foreign to me only 6 months ago. I have evolved (a bit), just as publishing is still evolving.

Just in time for me to purchase my first pair of reading glasses, which I’m sure is baby_w-glassesjust around the corner for me.
