A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice & Fire Book 5) by George RR Martin
“In the aftermath of a colossal battle, Daenerys Targaryen rules with her three dragons as queen of a city built on dust and death. But Daenerys has thousands of enemies, and many have set out to find her. Fleeing from Westeros with a price on his head, Tyrion Lannister, too, is making his way east—with new allies who may not be the ragtag band they seem. And in the frozen north, Jon Snow confronts creatures from beyond the Wall of ice and stone, and powerful foes from within the Night’s Watch. In a time of rising restlessness, the tides of destiny and politics lead a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves, to the greatest dance of all.”
This will take me a while to finish. It’s longer than all of the books in the series and it’s starting off slower than the rest. Once again, Martin loves to introduce new characters that you have no idea if they will be important or not. Who knows: he could kill them off a chapter later.
Update 3/2/14: FINALLY finished this one. And this was difficult to get through. I’ll be honest, really only the last 10 chapters or so were really intriguing. Not my favorite of the series so far. As usual, Martin kills of characters that he just introduced, as I predicted. But I’m sure this is all info you have to have if you’re going to be ready to read the next installment, that’s due out when? In the next eight years or something?
